What to do in the summer/ warm (dry) season
The temperature influences the precise functioning of the elevator. Prevent disturbances by having sufficient cooling/ventilation of the shaft and machine room.

What to do in case of moving?
This is only the case when living in an apartment with one or more elevators.

• Inform the owner and/or the other users
• Keep the elevator doors open when loading/unloading your boxes. Tape off the photocell sensor temporarily.
• Call the facility manager or elevator maintenance company to explain what you will be doing in order to prevent disturbances.
• Strap down any moving loads before travelling of the elevator.
• Do not exceed the maximum load described in the cabin
• The lift must only be used with a closed roof hatch.

• Never use the elevator in case of fire.

• Do not use aggressive solvents or cleaners.
• Do not throw water on the floor, but mop the floor with a wet towel or cloth.
• Use a shop vacuum cleaner to clean out the guiding of the cabin and shaft door.

Which button do I press?
If there are two buttons on the shaft tableau displaying an up and a down arrow you do the following.
Simply press the button for the direction you are travelling to. Just once is enough.
So if you are on the second floor and you have to take the elevator to the sixth floor you have to press the up button once. It’s almost similar to taking the bus. You get in the bus that goes the direction you have to go to.

Prevent entrapment

• If you are alone in a building for example working after office hours it is better not to take the elevator.
• When being used by a lot of people, take turns.

What to do in case of a disturbance/failure?
In most frequent cases a disturbance is easy to detect and to solve. With some of our pointers we give you a step in the right direction.
 
The automatic doors won’t close if

• The photo cell sensor is blocked off.
• The pushbutton of the floor or door is stuck or broken.
• Dirt has accumulated in the door guide.
• The maximum lifting capacity has been reached or exceeded.

The elevator will not move or does not respond to a command

• Check if the emergency break in the elevator cabin is switched on.
• Are all doors locked? Especially in the case of an elevator with manually operating doors it is possible that someone forgets to close the door.
• Did someone operate the switch in the cabin?
• The maximum lifting capacity has been reached or exceeded.

Window fracture

• If it is only a crack, report this a.s.a.p. to ELP, so the window can be replaced.
• In case there is a hole, report this a.s.a.p. to ELP and put the elevator out of order and keep it this way until the problem is solved.

Flooding

• Report this a.s.a.p. to ELP and put the elevator out of order with the main switch and keep it this way until the problem is solved to avoid electrical danger.
  

• Call the breakdown service using the emergency system in the elevator cabin.
• Reassure the passengers and inform them that help is on the way. An elevator always has ample ventilation. In case you are entrapped do not panic and keep calm. This way you also use less oxygen in the elevator cabin. There is a panic button in the cabin. In case you press this button someone will be notified that the elevator has a problem and that people are entrapped.
• In case the elevator is equipped with an emergency alarm system the entrapment will be reported automatically through a phone connection and you will be connected to the emergency central station.  

What should you pay attention to when reporting a breakdown?

• Preferably report the elevator number to the breakdown service. The elevator number is usually on the push button control panel in the elevator cabin.
• Are you not familiar with the elevator number? To send the elevator mechanic to the right elevator, it is important you report the address and characteristics of the elevator.
